Returning to Our Roots: What is the Purpose of Peer Support? presented by Tim Saubers, Executive Director, for National Association of Peer Supporters (NAPS)

Peer support has grown exponentially over the past 20 years and has become systematized as a service that is provided as part of the continuum of care within behavioral health services. Many peer supporters understand their role as bringing people into recovery, building recovery capital, and coaching people through navigating systems. But is that the true purpose of peer support, or is it something more? Join us for a conversation about what it means to stay true to the values of peer support amongst so many different systemic interpretations.

Learning Objectives:
1. Name 3 misconceptions about the purpose of peer support
2. Name 3 ways to remain true to the values of peer support
3. Identify peer-oriented resources that support providing peer support to fidelity
