FREE Webinar - Back to School: Supporting Educational Opportunities

Doors to Wellbeing invites you to join our monthly Peer Specialist Webinar Series. This FREE continuing education opportunity brings experts by experience to expand peer specialist skills, knowledge and best practices. The series is the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 2pm ET/1pm CT/12pm MT/11am PT.
Education can open doors to employment opportunities and inspires hope and recovery—and peer specialists are uniquely positioned to help make that happen. Back to School: Supporting Educational Opportunities will focus on how peers can support people as they explore and pursue learning. The webinar will cover strategies for exploring educational dreams, encourage goal setting, and taking practical steps toward school enrollment, including discussing the importance of being aware of past negative experiences and barriers such as navigating financial aid and the application process. Strategies will be discussed to help peers offer meaningful assistance while students are in school. Join us to learn how to support others through the transformative power of education.
1. Identify the role of peer specialists in supporting individuals as they explore, set, and pursue educational goals.
2. Describe strategies for helping individuals overcome barriers to education, including addressing past negative experiences and navigating the application and financial aid processes.
3. Apply principles of supported education to provide ongoing, meaningful assistance to individuals enrolled in school, fostering persistence and success in educational settings.
