Free Certified Peer Specialist Training in PA! (Hybrid Format)

Through the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant awarded to the Pennsylvania Peer Support Coalition from the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, this training is being offered free of charge. 

Join experienced Copeland Center trainers for PA Certified Peer Specialist Training. This training prepares participants to sit for the PA Certification Board Exam and to enter the workforce as a certified peer support specialist. In addition, participants will learn about new Peer Support job opportunities in the Crisis field. 

This course utilizes an experiential learning method that incorporates hands on practice, sharing, and reflecting. This approach effectively brings the philosophy and research of peer support into practical methods that can be used for a successful career. We learn about practices and applications for future roles and relationships as we practice those skills in an environment that honors the peer relationship, values, and ethics of Peer Support. 

Time and Dates

April 2-4:  In-Person 9:00am - 5:00pm

April 8-12: Online 10:00am - 2:00pm ET

April 15,16,18: In-Person 9:00am - 5:00pm

*In addition, there will be 10 hours of independent study work to complete on the Canvas platform.

Location:

Indiana, PA (Exact location will be provided when a participant is accepted into the course)

Technology Requirements:

  • Computer
  • Video Camera for Zoom sessions
  • Computer microphone or phone (to call into the Zoom session).

*This course cannot be completed using a phone. Cameras must be on during all Zoom sessions.
