When Someone Needs You: Tools for Staying Well While Supporting Others

There are moments when any of us may be called upon to respond to someone experiencing distress, crisis, or trauma. Whether that happens as part of a professional role, through volunteer service, or simply by being present when someone needs help, supporting others can be both meaningful and demanding.

This 1-hour webinar introduces the evidence-based Taking Action for First Responders program, which provides practical tools. Participants will explore strategies for managing stress, building resilience, maintaining healthy boundaries, and creating a personalized approach to wellbeing that can be used both during challenging moments and in everyday life.

Grounded in peer support values and a strengths-based approach, this session recognizes that wellbeing looks different for every individual. Participants will leave with practical ideas, actionable wellness tools, and renewed confidence in their ability to care for themselves while continuing to show up for others.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least 3 strategies to support wellbeing while helping others.
  • Apply at least 1 wellness tool to strengthen resilience in challenging situations.
  • Develop 1 action plan to support ongoing whole health and wellbeing.

Presented by Matthew Federici, CEO, and BeaJae North, Western Region Executive Director.
