Meet the Advisory Council: Sheree LeMaire, CPS/CRPR
Sheree LeMaire is an Advanced Peer Specialist (CPS/CRPR) and Program Coordinator of Peer Services with more than six years of experience spanning both frontline Peer Support and Peer Leadership roles. Her path into this work wasn't exactly traditional. After 16 years of struggling with addiction and spending 15 months in the Department of Corrections, she made the decision that she wasn't going back. Somewhere between orange jumpsuits and life lessons, she found recovery—and eventually, Peer Support.
When Sheree learned about Peer Support, it just made sense. Looking back, she realized there were countless times in her own journey when having just one person who truly understood could have made all the difference. That realization became her purpose.
While she loved working directly with individuals in recovery, she discovered her real passion was developing the people doing the work. She found her sweet spot in training, mentoring, supervising, and supporting Peer Professionals while protecting the fidelity and integrity of Peer Support. Since then, she has trained and credentialed dozens of peers across her state and dedicated her career to growing both the Peer Support and Peer Leadership workforce.
Sheree currently serves as President of the Impact Committee, a peer advisory board within her organization, and as Program Coordinator of Peer Services, where she oversees a growing team of 20 Peer Specialists and Peer Supervisors within a CCBHC. She is also a sitting councilwoman on the National Advisory Board for the Association of Peer Supporters and is working toward her master's degree in Organizational Nonprofit Leadership, with hopes of helping expand Peer Support on a national level.
After all, if she can turn a DOC number into a leadership role, she firmly believes people are capable of far more than their worst decisions.
