Meet the Advisory Council: Rita Romero

Rita Romero is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist & Family Support Partner in Tucson, AZ, and more recently an LAC/CRC after completing an MA in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. Rita currently works at the Comprehensive Center for Pain & Addiction at the University of Arizona, and her efforts focus on expanding opportunities for people and families with lived experience (particularly in rural and underserved communities), advancing peer support for individuals living with chronic pain and illness, and education and awareness around overdose prevention. Rita also has a strong interest in psychiatric and other disabilities, workplace/workforce development and advocacy, research on peer and family support, and Peer Support supervision.
