Microaggressions and Becoming Culturally Responsive - Second Session

  • Wednesday, January 27
  • Friday, January 29

Time: 11:00am ET

Join for 1 session or all 3 in the series! Each addresses a different topic of becoming culturally responsive.

Join the Vermont Recovery Education Project to examine common cultural biases and explore ways to abandon thoughts and actions that interfere with how we interact with each other.

You will learn more about:

  • Understanding terminology related to microaggressions- discuss some of the terms that are new/unfamiliar for some, but in light of recent events have become noteworthy, discover whether they resonate for you, and actively challenge previously unknown micro-aggressive attitudes/behaviors.
  • What it means to be culturally responsive when working with under-represented communities - understand what activities and attitudes constitute cultural responsivity.
  • Developing personal self-care strategies as they continue to challenge these attitudes/behaviors - acknowledging this as a sensitive topic, discuss strategies that can help you and your colleagues maintain self-care so you can continue to serve under-represented communities in a culturally responsive manner.

This webinar will be presented by national peer leaders: Waynette Brock and Charlene AkuaRose Feathers and moderated by Jane Winterling, Amey Dettmer, and Katie Wilson.
