Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator Training

The Advanced Level Training is all about how to train and prepare WRAP® Facilitators. It is a workshop for experienced facilitators with an in-depth knowledge and thorough mastery of both WRAP and facilitation skills. Certified Advanced Level WRAP Facilitators go out into their communities knowing that they possess the skills and knowledge to train others to do this work faithfully and in a manner that is consistent with the work of Mary Ellen Copeland.

The five day intensive workshop goes through all the skills, values, and ethics needed to offer  WRAP® Facilitator Trainings. The training is run by a select group of Copeland Center Facilitators who are very experienced in facilitating groups and work closely with the Center’s current findings and effective facilitation approaches through partnership with the Executive Director and Mary Ellen Copeland. The workshop requires successful completion of a number of practicum exercises. Completion of the course is not a guarantee of becoming an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator. The Copeland Center staff will provide specific feedback and work with participants until they are prepared.

The qualities that the Copeland Center is looking for in Advanced Level WRAP® Facilitator Applicants are:

•    Experience- Applicants have completed a minimum of 5 WRAP groups, Mental Health Recovery and WRAP presentations, and/or supported individuals in writing their own WRAP

•    Growth as a facilitator as demonstrated through evaluations.

•    Motivation- Applicants are highly-motivated

•    Committed to the 5-Key concepts- Hope, Personal Responsibility, Education, Self-Advocacy, and Support

•    Dynamic presentation and facilitation skills

•    Demonstrated commitment to the ethics and values of WRAP

•    Have a thorough knowledge of all parts of Mental Health Recovery and WRAP

The Copeland Center is currently accepting applications for Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator Training in Austin, TX on September 10-14, 2012.

To apply, each applicant is requested to send in:

•    Fill out our online application form: htttp://tinyurl.com/ALF9-12

•    A short letter (no more than 1 page) describing experiences that relate to Mental Health Recovery and WRAP. This letter should include why you are interested in becoming an Advanced Level Trainer and your experience with facilitating WRAP groups or helping others develop their own WRAPs.

•    At least 5 evaluations from at least 3 different WRAP groups you have facilitated (15 total evaluations).

•    A copy of your WRAP Facilitator certificate

•    A non-refundable $100 application fee which once accepting will go toward the tuition. If you are not accepted into Advanced Level Training, you will be provided with specific feedback on opportunities for growth. Payment can be submitted via credit card below in the registration section or via check sent to PO Box 6471, Brattleboro, VT 05302.

Additionally, each applicant is requested to submit an unedited 20 minute video presenting an overview of the Five Key Concepts and WRAP®. We are most interested in the content and how you present WRAP and not the quality of the video. The most desirable method for submitting your video is to post your video online through a link. (You can search the internet for the many available subscription based or free secure video sharing websites.)  Otherwise videos must be sent to be viewed on home DVD player or compatible for viewing on a PC or MAC computer.  (VHS or earlier video recording formats are not accepted).

Our past training participants have advised us that video submissions are very helpful in your preparation and application for the Advanced Level WRAP Facilitators Course. Additionally, you may request a free e-copy of a checklist to prepare for your video that people have also found very helpful in developing their WRAP presentation skills.

If you are unable to submit a video you must complete one of the following and contact the Copeland Center to set up a phone interview:

o   A letter of recommendation from an Advanced Level Facilitator including their current contact information.

o   5 recommendations from co-facilitators or group participants that reflects what they have learned in working with you and your modeling of the Values and Ethic in WRAP workshops.

Materials should be mailed to PO Box 2343, West Chester, PA 19380.

Note: Participation alone is not a guarantee of certification. Certification is based on demonstrated level of knowledge through written and/or oral exams. Course instructors will make every effort to work with participant toward successful completion of the course and/or establish next steps for certification.
